Planned Maintenance

Jan 20, 2014 by Matt in Technical

Tonight at 10PM EST, the server will be down for a short stint so the hosting provider can do maintenance on the VM host hardware.

EDIT: 1/21/2014 9:46AM – At this time, it does appear the maintenance window did not occur. I will update this article with further information once I have it.

DNSSEC and IPv6 readiness

Feb 20, 2012 by Matt in Technical

Well, It has been awhile since I posted anything on here. Been a LOT going on over the past year or so, too much to get into.

However, I can now say that both domains I own (slackadelic.com and noobfarm.org) are now DNNSEC-enabled, signed, and operational. I can also say that both domains are completely IPv6 capable and ready!

Just in time for World IPv6 Launch.

If you haven’t already check it out, I suggest you do so. :)

WPTouch and Slackadelic is Mobile friendly!

Thanks to a plugin I ran across, this site now detects most mobile smart phones and formats itself accordingly.

Here’s a small sample of what it looks like from an Android phone and iPhone OS

GSB on Slackware 13.1

Jul 21, 2010 by Matt in Misc.

Its been rumored that GSB (Gnome Slackbuild) had issues installing on Slackware 13.1 from the net installer script. Well, I created a VM, installed Slackware 13.1 (full install) and ran the installer.

I ran into zero issues. Zero, zilch, 0, nada, issues. You can see a screenshot of it running just below!

Mow the yard, find a mantis

Jun 27, 2010 by Matt in Misc.

Today, after going through an excruciating work out with the mower and trimmer, my family and I set out to clean out our daughter’s wading pool.

Once finished, we all sat down to relax when she screamed out, “OH NO A BUG! AHHHHHHH!” Well you know how dramatic a 5 year old can be.

Closer look revealed a baby praying mantis walking over the chair she was on. We snapped a photo, didn’t come out all that great, BUT you can still see it!

Help save MySQL from Oracle!

Dec 13, 2009 by Matt in Misc.

That’s right! Oracle is on the verge of purchasing MySQL which makes its future unknown at this time. However, the EC must approve the purchase before Oracle can move forward.

Read the following article and please do your part in letting the EC know what you think!

RIP rafb.net/paste

Jun 24, 2009 by Matt in Linux, Misc.

Yeah, we all know by now that the http://rafb.net paste site is going off-line. Seven years of dedication to a free pastebin for the world.

Well, after a few talks with some folks and after being pressed in to doing (hehe) this, I’ve switched http://pastebin.slackadelic.com to use the code from rafb.net.

Thanks go out to edman007 from ##slackware on freenode for his help in tracking down and fixing a few odd issues with the code. It even works with paste scripts! Right now the official script is Pastelling. The script was originally written by Steven Robson Pastelling, aka rafb.pl, was written by _pragma, but is being hosted on github by Michiel van Wessem.
